Women Speak: A Poem

by | Jan 10, 2014

Women speak
With their eyes.
Even if they shake their head “yes”
And mean “no”
You can see it in their smile.
You can see it in their gaze.

Women speak
With a light touch.
With a gentle hug,
Or a long pause.
You can hear them without words.
You can hear them with no sounds.

Women speak
When other women can’t.
To fight for what is right.
To lend a helping hand.
You can feel it in their walk.
You can feel it in their stance.

If you read

Between the lines

You will see that even when
A woman never speaks,

She is speaking all the time.

This was my grandmother. A beautiful woman who will be surely missed.
